The Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) celebrates February as the Crypto Asset Literacy Month. The aim of this program is to educate the wider public on the rapidly growing crypto asset trading industry in Indonesia. As a member of Asosiasi Blockchain Indonesia, Indonesia Crypto Network (ICN) joins hands with the movement with its 2 media brands, Coinvestasi and CoinDesk Indonesia.
With over 16.55 million users of crypto assets, a 48.7% increase from 11.2 million at the end of 2021, it’s important to make sure the public has a thorough understanding of the risks and opportunities in the industry. This is why the Indonesian Ministry of Trade has initiated the Crypto Literacy Month program.
The program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesia Crypto Network (ICN), as a media partner. ICN, as the largest media agency in the country since 2016, will use its two media platforms, Coinvestasi and CoinDesk Indonesia, to spread awareness and education to a wider audience. The goal of the program is to help the people of Indonesia become beneficiaries of digital assets in the future.
Crypto Literacy Month will run throughout February, with events including online and offline activities, sports activities, e-Sport tournaments, and many more. The program will be held in several cities across Indonesia, including Jakarta, Medan, Semarang, Surabaya and Makassar.
Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan stated, “This event is an opportunity to introduce crypto to the public in a comprehensive way and ensure that those entering the industry are prepared. We also want to familiarize the public with the latest regulations regarding crypto assets.”
Both Coinvestasi and CoinDesk Indonesia are working with most of the local crypto exchange companies and web3 projects, to create offline and online campaigns with the aim to increase the crypto literacy among Indonesians. “Coinvestasi has always been working to educate mass audience about crypto and blockchain in a healthy way, we’re thrilled that the government has recognized this effort by announcing the Crypto Literacy Month, this shows their support for the industry,” said Dhila, Managing Director of Coinvestasi.
Additionally, “as a member of the Indonesian Blockchain Association, ICN and CoinDesk Indonesia proactively and regularly hosts activities which we believe will push the industry forward. Crypto Literacy Month is one of them and we’re glad we can add value to this initiative”, followed up by Glenn Ardi, Managing Director of CoinDesk Indonesia.
